Nine Sri Lankan sailors disappear in US

Colombo: Thirty-seven state ministers were sworn in by President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Thursday.
The President’s Office said that the state ministers took oaths at the Presidential Secretariat in capital Colombo. Among those sworn in, Shehan Semasinghe was sworn in as state minister of finance, Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon as state minister of defense, Tharaka Balasuriya as state minister of foreign affairs.
The state ministers will assume duty soon, officials said.

New York: Nine Sri Lankan sailors who were to sail for home from the United States after training have gone missing in America.
The Sri Lanka Navy vessel P 627 departed from Seattle in the US last week without the nine, who disappeared “in spite of stringent measures in place to thwart such an eventuality”, The Island newspaper reported on Thursday.
