Andaman MP to reduce posting duration for all Govt Servants

Port Blair: The Member of Parliament, Kuldeep Rai Sharma today demanded to reduce the duration of posting for all government servants of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, irrespective of any department, to only one year for the entire Nicobar District.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration, the Member of Parliament mentioned that one of the biggest problems faced by government servants of Andaman & Nicobar Islands is posting in remote islands of Nicobar District.
He said that hard-working government servants of these Islands are always willing to serve Islanders in every corner of these Islands but due to lack of proper transportation, medical, and telecommunication facilities often government servants feel helpless and fear such hard posting.
He mentioned that many government servants have genuine health issues and many others find it difficult to manage the education of their children in case of long posting in the Nicobar District.
The Member of Parliament also pointed out that uncertainty over years of posting in the Nicobar District has become a major psychological barrier for many.
To deal with this problem, the Member of Parliament suggested that the duration of posting for all government servants irrespective of any department may be reduced to only one year for the entire Nicobar District.
He added that if a transfer is made for one year in Nicobar District, no government servant will ever fear to report to their place of work and they will happily proceed to join their duty on time.
He pointed out that the one year posting policy has already been adopted by Andaman & Nicobar Police for a long time, which has yielded encouraging results and has kept the police jawans high in spirit. (UNI)
