Two drug peddlers get ten-year Imprisonment
Hamirpur (HP): Special Judge (Additional Session Judge), Hamirpur on Thursday sentenced two persons to undergo ten years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of one lakh rupees each for keeping charas in their possession.
Both these persons were caught by the police during special checking on May 3rd, 2019, and accordingly, a challan was put up against them in court. In all sixteen witnesses were deposed in the court and the learned judge found both the persons guilty of the crime and sentenced was given to them.
On May 3, 2019, under the leadership of DSP Hitesh Lakhanpal, head constable Naresh Kumar and other police employees blocked the Hamirpur bypass road. During this, the police stopped a vehicle for investigation. The accused Ashwani Kumar, resident of Hamirpur ward number seven and Vishal Kumar, a resident of ward number one, were in this vehicle. During the search, 5.068 kg of charas was recovered from the vehicle. After this, the police registered a case under the NDPS Act and arrested both accused.
District Attorney Kapil Dev Sharma said that on the basis of witnesses and evidence, the court has found both the accused guilty in this case, and accordingly sentence was announced for them. (UNI)
