Biden lays down strategy for Conona Control

US President-elect will unfold his plan to control COVID-19 initially

Washington, Dec 4(UNI) US President-elect Joe Biden said on Friday that he will be asking Americans to wear masks for the first 100 days in his presidency in order to help curtail the spread of coronavirus.
Speaking to CNN, Biden said that he believed that if the American people followed his request there could be a “significant reduction” in the number of cases of COVID-19 cases across the country.
Mr Biden further added that he would order that people wear masks in all government buildings.
However, constitutional experts say that a US president has no legal authority to order Americans to wear masks, but Mr Biden said during the interview he and his Vice-President Kamala Harris would set an example by donning face coverings.

Meanwhile, the US recorded 14.1 million fresh COVID cases and 276,000 deaths from the virus – the highest of any country in the world.

Mr Biden is preparing to take office even as pharmaceutical companies around the world are poised to ship millions of doses of coronavirus vaccines to the American public.

The first 100 days of a new presidency, also known as the ‘honeymoon period’ is symbolically important in the US and is seen as a gauge of how a president will get things done.
