PM Modi, Sports minister Anurag Thakur, AP CM shower praises on her

Kallang (Singapore): Former world champion PV Sindhu won the Singapore Open Super 500 title after beating Chinese shuttler Wang Zhi Yi in the summit clash on Sunday.
Sindhu took 58 minutes to beat world No. 11 Wang 21-9, 11-21, 21-15 to clinch her first Super 500 title and overall, third of the season.
Earlier, she has won Syed Modi International in January and Swiss Open in March this year.
In the opening game, Wang scored the first two points but Sindhu came roaring back to take the array of points before pocketing the opening game with ease to take the lead.
The momentum of the match turned in Wang’s favour in the second game as the Chinese raced to a 6-0 lead before the Indian could get on the scoreboard. Despite Sindhu trying her best, Wang easily took the game to force a decider.
The final game saw a thrilling start with both players exchanging intense rallies. Sindhu did manage to take a five-point lead into the break. After the change of sides, Wang closed the gap in scores to just one with the score at 12-11.
Sindhu, however, fought tooth and nail to keep her nose ahead. The thinnest of margins decided each rally but it was the Indian who stood tall once the dust settled. (UNI)
