Blinken meets Japanese, S Korean FMs

Bali: The Group of 20 (G20) foreign ministers on Friday called for urgency to strengthen multiculturalism and ensure that the global food supply chain is restored.
Holding the G20 rotating presidency, Indonesia hosted the two-day foreign ministers’ meeting, which served as a forum to discuss global recovery efforts, in the resort island of Bali.

US Secretary of State Antony J Blinken on Friday met with Foreign Ministers of Japan and South Korea in Bali, Indonesia and discussed a variety of issues including Ukraine, China, North Korea and trilateral cooperation.
Blinken’s trilateral meet with Japanese FM Hayashi Yoshimasa and South Korean FM Park Jin took place on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers meet in Bali.
United States Department of State Spokesperson Ned Price: said ”Building on the President’s June 29 trilateral meeting with President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan, Secretary Blinken and the Foreign Ministers discussed efforts to enhance trilateral cooperation across the Indo-Pacific and around the world in support of our shared values and desire for regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
They shared views on the challenges posed by China and also discussed ”Russia’s brutal war of aggression” against Ukraine and global efforts to support the Ukrainian people, Price said in a statement released by the US Department of State.
Blinken and FMs condemned North Korea’s ”unlawful ballistic missile launches” and discussed how to expand trilateral security cooperation,” the statement read.
The Secretary reiterated the US’ commitment to complete ”denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and immediate resolution of the abductions issue.”
Blinken and FM Park extended their condolences to Foreign Minister Hayashi on the passing of former Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, the statement added. (UNI)
