Black Balloon airport: Congress protests as PM’s chopper takes off

Vijayawada: Some Congress activists released a bunch of black balloons at Gannavaram airport as soon as the helicopter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi took off from the airport for Bhimavaram on Monday.
The Prime Minister’s chopper took off for Bhimavaram to participate in the unveiling of Alluri Sitarama Raju statue. When the helicopter was flying, the Congress activists released a bunch of black balloons to register protest for not granting Special Category Status to AP.
Though the bunch of balloons did not reach the height where the helicopter was flying, police considered it as breach of security and arrested some Congress activists, including APCC working president Sunkara Padmasri. APCC General Secretary Rajiv Ratan is at large and he would be arrested, DSP Vijay Pal said.
Krishna district SP Jashuva told the media that they had taken the issue seriously.
Meanwhile, BJP state president Somu Veerraju condemned the act of releasing bunch of balloons when Modi’s helicopter was taking off for Bhimavaram.
Somu Veerraju described it as a conspiracy and demanded investigation in the incident. He said he was complaining to the Union Home Ministry on releasing of balloons when Modi’s helicopter was flying in the air.
The BJP state president said that the Prime Minister, AP Chief Minister and Governor were travelling in the helicopter, when the incident took place. (UNI) (Black balloon feature pics-credits-ANI)*
