Goa Govt to amend law to protect ‘no man’s’ properties

Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said that the state government will amend the law to protect those properties owners of which are either abroad or which do not have heirs.
Speaking to reporters after chairing a meeting on land grabbing cases in the state, he said the amendment will be moved in the upcoming assembly session.
He said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe land grabbing cases has busted a gang which has forged documents of over 90 persons. The list has been forwarded to the District Collectors for appropriate action, he added.
The SIT had recently arrested four persons in connection with the crime. Those arrested include two record attendants from the Archives Department who had allegedly helped the accused in tampering government records.
The 7-member SIT led by Superintendent of Police Nidhin Valsan was constituted on June 15. (UNI)
