Guyanese Prez. Nepal PM, Sri Lankan PM mark International Yoga Day

Though some miscreants disturbed International Yoga Day event in Maldives

New Delhi: Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, Mauritius President Prithvirajsing Roopun, Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe joined in the International Yoga Day celebrations in their countries on Tuesday.
Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali in a video message on the occasion said Guyana is “pleased to join the rest of the world in this year’s observance of International Yoga Day. The physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga are indisputable. Yoga improves human wellbeing as a force of good in promoting social harmony and goodwill. I encourage all Guyanese to discover the range of benefits that can be derived from yoga. May this timeless practice, help us remember to live in harmony with nature, and with our fellow brothers and sisters. “
The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka in a tweet showed the Sri Lankan PM Wickremesinghe participating in the IYD celebrations in Colombo. “8th #InternationalDayofYoga celebrations in #Colombo were held today morning in the gracious presence of H.E PM @RW_UNP, Hon’ble Ministers and Parliamentarians.
“Introducing the crowd to basic asanas, breathing exercises and meditation, the rejuvenating session gave an experience of uniting the body with the mind. The Day marks the culmination of a series of #yoga events across #SriLanka over the past few days.”
The Indian HC in Port Louis in tweets said that IYD was celebrated with an event held at the Aapravasi Ghat, where the first indentured labourers from India landed during the colonial rule.
