‘Mukhyamantri Chandru’ quits Cong in Karnataka

Bengaluru: In the backdrop of several Congress leaders quitting the party across India, senior Karnataka party leader HN Chandrashekar has tendered his resignation citing personal reasons.
Party insiders however claimed that Chandrashekhar, who is popularly known as Mukhyamantri Chandru, quit the party after he was not given a ticket to contest Rajya Sabha election from the state.
He submitted his resignation letter to Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar on Saturday.
He had joined the Congress with a vast historical background with an aim to serve people and he is satisfied that he sincerely rendered his duty.
The adage of Mukhyamantri before his name is used for his memorable role of a chief minister in some plays.
Chandru had entered electoral politics by contesting from Gauribidanur assembly constituency in 1985 on Janata Party ticket.
He became MLC from 1998 to 2004 after joining BJP. Chandru had served as Kannada Development Authority Chairperson till 2013. He joined Congress party in 2014 after Congress came to power in the state. (UNI)
