Nikhat wins World Boxing Championship gold

Istanbul: India’s Nikhat Zareen becomes world champion in 52kg weight category after thrashing Thailand’s Jutamas Jitpong by unanimous decision (5-0), here on Thursday.

On Wednesday, she registered a convincing 5-0 win over Brazil’s Caroline De Almeida in the 52kg semi-final. The Telangana boxer was playing her second World Championships. (UNI)
