Tech Mahindra launches TechMVerse to drive commerce in Metaverse

Hyderabad, Feb 28 (UNI) Tech Mahindra, a leading provider of digital transformation, consulting, and business re-engineering services and solutions, on Monday launched TechMVerse, its Metaverse practice to deliver interactive and immersive experiences in the Metaverse for its customers base of 1200 across the world. Speaking to newsmen on the occasion, Tech Mahindra Managing Director and CEO CP Gurnani said Metaverse has the power to disrupt our reality, as well as the future. At Tech Mahindra, we have always been at the forefront of 5G and our entry into the Metaverse is yet another milestone in our journey of catalyzing future readiness and disrupting and transforming customer experiences, he said. Gurnani said, the fundamental layers of metaverse are very well integrated within Tech Mahindra and its competencies. From infrastructure to experience, from spatial computing to now commerce, TechMahindra’s platform, the TechMverse would enable a seamless integration between our known expertise in 5G with our skills in Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and blockchain. Tech Mahindra would also leverage the opportunities presented by the Metaverse through various use cases including DealerVerse – metaverse-based car dealership, Middlemist – NFT marketplace, MetaBank – a virtual bank, and gaming center, he added. Gurnani said that the company has two labs for this technology—one in Hyderabad and another one in Pune. At present 100 people are working on this technology. It would be increased to 1000 in a phased manner. Speaking on recruitment for Metaverse, Gurnani said, fifty per cent would be existing employees and another fifty per cent are experts of other industries. While reacting to the Russia-Ukraine crisis impact on the IT Industry, Gurnani said, “ It is early to say because it may be coming to an end soon. They are doing peace negotiations right now. So the crises come to an end fast. That corridor none of us (India) that entrenched. Anything that will be prolonged can be impact” , he said and hoped and prayed to god to come to an end soon. Reacting on work from home continuation, Gurnani said, the company has delivered several projects during the last two years. But certain projects need to deliver an interactive mode. So that the number of workplaces were increased. “ We are thinking Hybrid model. We are not going to mandate the employees come to office”, he said and added that the company would provide transport facility to the employees who are willing to come to office from April one. Reacting on industry growth, the Tech Mahindra MD & CEO said that the industry growth forecast is expecting 10 to 14 percent as per NASSCOM report. Two digit growth is a good thing, he added. He said that at present the company did not focus on any acquisition for Metaverse technology. We are leading in this technology platform, Gurnani added.
