Lambi, Feb 20: Former Punjab Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) patron on Sunday, while thanking the electorate for coming out in large numbers to support the SAD-BSP combine, said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) did not have any relation or sympathy with Punjab. Speaking to the media persons after casting his vote along with the entire Badal family, the former chief minister, who is contesting from the Lambi constituency, said AAP is a party of outsiders and can never fulfill the aspiration of Punjabis. He also slammed Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s “derogatory” remark against people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, saying “if you behave inappropriately with the people of other states, they will do the same with you. If Bihar and Uttar Pradesh or other states push out the Punjabis, would you be able to support them? A number of people are outsiders and their business is also there. If your behavior towards them is inappropriate, then they would do the same with you,” he said. The former chief minister also expressed happiness about the fact that his entire family was standing with him. “It is a matter of happiness that the three generations of the family are standing at one place”. He also condemned opportunism displayed by many political leaders, saying the level of politics and politicians had been lowered by constant switching of parties by several leaders.
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Sunday predicted that the Congress party will form the government in Punjab with a two-thirds majority. “The Congress party will form the government in Punjab with two-thirds majority,” CM Channi said while talking to the media after casting his vote here. “There is overwhelming support for the party among voters,” he added. CM Channi, who is the chief ministerial face of the Congress, is contesting the elections from Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur assembly constituencies
