New Delhi, Jan 23 (UNI) Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Sunday accused the Centre of pushing four crore people into poverty and alleged that the development has happened only for “Humare Do” in the country. In a series of tweets, the former Congress President said, “‘Vikas overflow’ only for ‘Humare Do’! While our 4,00,00,000 brothers & sisters are pushed into poverty. “Each of these 4,00,00,000 is a real person, not just a number. Each of these 4,00,00,000 deserved better. Each of these 4,00,00,000 is India!,” he added, while using the hashtag ‘#BJPfails’. Rahul also posted graphic of a report of Frobes and Oxfam, which said four crore Indians were estimated to have fallen into extreme poverty since the pandemic in March, 2020. The report also suggested that Indian billionaires grew from 102 to 143 during the pandemic period. The collective wealth of India’s 100 richest people hit a record high of Rs 57.3 lakh crore (775 billion dollars) in 2021. The analysis is part of the statement released by Oxfam India, based on the ‘Inequality Kills’ report. The report also mentioned that in India, the wealth of billionaires during the pandemic (from March, 2020 to November 30, 2021) increased from Rs 23.1 lakh crore to Rs 53.2 lakh crore.
