Sharad Pawar backs MP-Actor Kolhe to play Nathuram Godse

Mumbai, Jan 21 (UNI) NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Friday expressed solidarity with party MP and actor Amul Kolhe who is being criticized for portraying the role of Nathuram Godse in his upcoming movie.
Notably, Housing Minister and NCP leader Jitendra Awhad too had vocally slammed Mr Kolhe, a parliamentarian from Shirur seat, for playing the part of Mahatma Gandhi’s killer.
“One cannot support the murder of Mahatma Gandhi under the garb of being an actor. It is wrong for an MP to accept this role,” he remarked.
However, Mr Pawar disagreed with this argument and averred, “Mr Kolhe acted in the picture as an artist. Also, the movie was shot in the year 2017, that time he was not even an NCP member. He was elected as MP in the year 2019.”
“The role of Nathuram Godse was offered to him by the producer, it was his profession. All this is in no way connected of his political career,” he underscored while talking at a news channel.
The movie ‘Why I Killed Gandhi’ is set to release on January 30, 2022 on an OTT platform.
