Palakkad: Leopard and two cubs found in unoccupied house

Palakkad, Jan 9 (UNI) A leopard and two cubs, aged around one week, were found inside the room of an unoccupied house at Ummini near Akathethara in this district on Sunday.
The house was not occupied for the last 15 years.

The leopard and cubs were noticed by one Ponnan, who came to the plot hearing the barking of dogs.
Later, the mother leopard fled away from the house.
Local residents informed the district forest department authorities.
The forest officials shifted the cubs to the DFO office and later took them to a nearby veterinary hospital at Palakkad.
Forest officials started a search operation in the nearby places to locate the mother leopard.
Ummini is a residential area and several houses were located near to the house where the leopard was found.
Dhoni forest area and Malappuzha dam is located near Akathethara bordering Tamilnadu .
