Sukhdev Dhinsa: PM’s security breach only highlighted incompetency of Channi govt

Chandigarh, Jan 5 (UNI) Coming down heavily on Charanjit Singh Channi-led Punjab government for breaching the security protocol of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) President Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said the incident not only exposed the law and order situation in the state, but also highlighted the incompetency of state government.
Dhindsa said, “Ensuring the security of the Prime Minister of the country was the sole responsibility of the state government and the Congress government led by Charanjit Singh Channi was directly responsible for this major security breach.
“It was really very unfortunate that the Prime Minister of the country was being treated in such an abusive manner by the state government,” he added.
The SAD (Sanyunkt) chief said being the Chief Minister of a state, which was known for its hospitality, Channi should have personally gone to welcome the Prime Minister, but instead of reaching there even for the sake of courtesy, he showed his prejudiced thinking by insulting the Prime Minister and scuttling his programme.
“The failure to ensure the security of the Prime Minister of India not only highlights the incompetence of the Channi government, but also raises several other questions.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to pay homage to the martyrs at Hussainiwala and then, he was to lay the foundation stone of PGI Satellite Center at Ferozepur worth crores of rupees, but unfortunately, the ruling Congress government in the state created a big hurdle in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally by breaching his security protocol, dashing the hopes of Punjabis as he was supposed to make some major relief package for the state,” he added.
