UP: SP MLC Pushp Raj Jain taken into custody

Kannauj/Kanpur, Jan 3 (UNI) Itra trader from Kannauj and Samajwadi Party’s (SP) Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Pushp Raj Jain alias Pumpy was detained by the Income Tax department in a tax evasion case here on Monday.
Searches are being conducted at the premises of Pumpy at Kannauj and other places for the last four days. Sources said that Pumpy was taken into custody by the IT team early on Monday morning and that he has been brought to Kanpur.
Sources said that the IT team took Pumpy to his Ratan Presidency residence located at Rani Ghat crossing in Kanpur. Pumpy and his brother Atul Jain are being quizzed by the IT team even as searches continue at his premises. It is being said that the flat in which Pumpy has been taken to is owned by his brother Atul and was sealed a couple of days back.
Sources said that during the investigation conducted so far the IT team has recovered fake bills related to purchases and documents with bogus entries of the similar amount.
