Tirupati: Maiden open-heart surgery successfully carried out at Sri Padmavathi Paediatric Cardiac Hsptl

Tirupati, Nov 12 (UNI) The maiden open-heart surgery was carried out successfully at the Sri Padmavathi Paediatric Cardiac Hospital in Tirupati on Friday. The operations at the hospital commenced soon after it was inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on October 11.

A girl, Kavita hailing from YSR Kadapa District had developed a hole in her heart ever since her birth. Due to their poor economic background, her parents were getting her treated in their native place only. But as the girl was found to have developed an infection in her heart from the past few days, she was recommended to get treatment in Padmavathi Cardiac Hospital by the local doctors.

Under the supervision of the Director of the Hospital Dr Srinath Reddy, a team of doctors successfully carried out open heart surgery for four hours. Now the girl is undergoing medication in ICU.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Executive officer Dr KS Jawahar Reddy lauded the efforts of the team of doctors headed by Dr Srinath Reddy, who had successfully carried out the first open heart surgery case. The team included Dr Ganapathi Subramanyam, Dr Ashok, Dr Vijita, Dr Madhu Yadav.

Director Dr Srinath Reddy said, the hospital is making arrangements in that direction to ensure that at least 100 open heart surgeries shall be carried out to the needy children in this hospital in a month.
