Patna, Nov 5 ( UNI) Senior Congress leader and MLC Prem Chandra Mishra on Friday while expressing deep sorrow over the death of 23 people in a hooch tragedy in Gopalganj and West Champaran districts alleged that the state government has miserably failed in executive laws of probation and suggested to review the act.
Mr Mishra said here on Friday that the death of 23 people in Gopalganj and Bettiah of West Champaran district in the hooch tragedy was a glaring example of failure of the prohibition laws in the state and asked the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to immediately review and reconsider it.
The Congress leader alleged that the Minister concerned was issuing misleading statements in this connection and said that state government has totally failed in controlling the illegal sale and smuggling of liquor .
Mr Mishra termed the claims of the state government about arrest of 3 lakh people in connection with violation of the prohibition act as baseless saying that the prisons in the state has the capacity of only 50,000.
